Qurbani (Arabic: أُضْحِيَّة, Udhiyah) is the sacred animal sacrifice performed during the days of Eid Al-Adha — the 10th, 11th, and 12th of Dhul Hijjah — to commemorate the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS) for the sake of Allah.
It is Wajib (obligatory) according to the Hanafi madhab for every Muslim adult who possesses wealth above the Nisab threshold on the days of Eid. According to the Shafi'i, Maliki, and Hanbali madhabs, it is a Sunnah Mu'akkadah (highly recommended Sunnah).
